NYFW: Gant by Michael Bastian SS 2012

Surf’s up with Gant by Michael Bastian’s Spring Summer 2012 collection.  Everything is beachy and keen, delivering a collection that looked like ’70s prep school gone to Maui.

Red camouflage was a bit of a theme for the ‘show’—appearing on cargo shorts and short nylon dolphin trunks, with it’s candy colored palate working to transform the military pattern into an Aloha print update.  Corduroy camp shorts in bright turquoise stood out when paired with a red camouflage field jacket.  Bastian showed plenty of preppy staples, including lace-neck rugby shirts, and cotton suits, as well as a distinguished double-breasted number in grey pinstripes. A cotton tuxedo jacket bore a madras-style plaid with a faint, stylized floral pattern beneath it, the combination looking both beach-y and distinguished.

“Go to hell” prints were also in abundance, including turtle and watermelon motifs that struck the perfect balance between prep and Polynesian. Ultimately, Bastian’s latest collection for Gant expands upon the line’s central preppy theme with a fun dip into 70s surf and sun.

Here is very colorful glimpse of Michael’s latest collection for Gant, which was inspired by The Brady Bunch Goes to Hawaii. Enjoy …
