NYFW F/W 2011: Alexander Wang
“It’s about poking fun at luxury and decadence and this idea of stereotypical wealth,” said Alexander Wang, walking Vogue through his upcoming fall collection. Wang is playing with elements of culture—fur, skiwear, formalwear, loungewear—and mixing and matching them in the clothes.
“It felt right taking the pretentiousness out of luxury shopping with the opening of our first store,” he said. “We want to give the ultimate shopping experience but still have people feel very comfortable and at ease.
With lots of flowy, loose fabrics, and sheer beauty, the collection had exactly that, a sense of luxury but a soft comfort, a feel good outfit kinda thing. His collection has inspired me for my fashion week day #5 outfit. I plan to wear black silk high waist pants, a cotton v-neck (gray of course), and a blazer with stilettos, (had to push in that luxurious feel).
With dark colors of black and gray, blue glitz pants and hints of neon pockets in fur and loungewear pieces added some flare, something Wang seems to present every collection.
