NYFW: Kate Spade FW 2011 Collection Presentation

The ’60s are back! Kate Spade’s pad on 25th street donned colorful sets with artsy knick-knacks to present the new Fall collection. Each room had a different color theme indicated by medium-sized block letter sculptures placed on the shelves and reflected in the colors used in the rooms. Meanwhile, models walked through the rooms wearing the collection and interacting with guests. In true English swinger fashion, bags made of felt and tweed had proper bows and big playful clasps and buttons. Fresh shades echoed the upbeat style in deep blue/green patent bags, fuschia statement coats, and tomato red pumps. Jewelry pieces sat on old photography books, Breakfast at Tiffany style photographs hung on the walls, shoes strategically placed next to bright pink peonies bouquets, and bags hung below a collection of bright blue Empire State Building figurines– all call to mind the days of Andy Warhol’s NYC. Sixties style pumps restructured with pointier toes and thick square heels with tan bows and white accoutrements look modern and pretty.

This sophisticated ladylike style has a playful wit, a prominent trend for Fall. Floral dresses are artsy yet structured, with all of the Kate Spade luxury that makes you want to live in them. Just about everything went to the top of my wish list.
