Menswear at Central Saint Martins Fall 2011

The Central Saint Martins show has quickly become a London Fashion Week event to attend. Graduating names like Thomas Tait, John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen among others, to some the event has come to be indicative of what London has to offer for the seasons to come.  Because of this Iconography Magazine takes a second to look at the menswear options offered.

While I’m not sure if the designer’s name is Pierong Wu, as noted on the London Fashion Week site, or Wu Pierong, as noted in various other places around the net, the name is most certainly one to watch.  One of the three designers to show menswear, Wu has interned from industry names like Raf Simons.  Counting names like Simons, Ricardo Tisci, Miuccia Prada as people she looks up to in fashion, Pierong is looking to give fashion a new proposition and with this collection does so by using color sparingly, and focusing on the silhouette.

Pietro Franch was yet another designer who showed menswear for the Central Saint Martins Fall 2011 show.  While I couldn’t find much information about the designer, the mainly dark textile heavy collection speaks for itself.  While some silhouettes were long with ankle length skirts and trench coats of the same length, others involved a trouser with a wider waist that tapered down to a very slim ankle
