Like last season, the designer, a favorite of Michelle Obama’s, put a big emphasis on tailoring this season. It’s lady like meets mens tailoring. He opened with a charcoal gray coat flung over the shoulders of a cropped jacket, printed blouse, and cigarette pants. Not your average wool flannel coat; it came with a strip of black lace down each sleeve. Wu made lace an integral part of this collection.
The collection was full of cocktail dresses, maxi and knee length, lots of black and nude, the shows’s dominant colors. With the exception of bright pops of reds, greens, and blues, the black lace consistently sent us a side note of “what to buy” when shopping next.
