NUMBER:Lab FW 2011 Fashion Show

We attended the NUMBER:Lab Fall/Winter show at the Standard Hotel. Before the show began there was a hockey match outside. It definitely got you in the sporty mood and didn’t seem out of place in the frigid New York City temperatures. The show began promptly at 2:10 with models entering from the back of the room much to the surprise of the crowd. They walked up the freshly painted white runway towards the window, which had a fabulous view over looking the Hudson. They sat down at the benches on either side and began to change while a remix of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” pumped through the room.

Blue was seen throughout the show even in the shoelaces of all the models. Models sported lots of winter accessories including hockey sticks, ski poles and goggles. It definitely made us want to go to Aspen and look uber chic. Another trend was color blocking. Several of the sweaters had blocks of purples, blues and grays. Shocking neon yellow was scattered throughout the collection. It was a surprising color but kept the clothes fresh.

The materials were very much in the winter theme. Some models looked they had thermal long johns on and many of the sweaters were of alpaca material.

There were 22 looks in all and overall it was a great show. The collection was very cohesive, the venue was great and we loved the music selection.
