Here is Lithuanian-born and London-based knitwear designer Laura Theiss.
Her designs from the SS 11 recent collection are absolutely out of this world. The collection consists of combining traditional hand-knitting and crochet techniques that are inspired by Far East costumes and mythological legends. They are all femininely shaped, with metallic embellishment, unusual dreamy colour combinations that are twisted with a futuristic appearance. The inspiration behind the collection was Chinese ancient legend about Dropa Discs and their owners “visitors from the sky” whom originates from 10.000 B.C.
Laura has always had a passion for knitwear, and she made her first creation at the tender age of 7, producing a crocheted tablecloth. With a background in business studies and graduating from Central Saint Martins she is now dividing herself between Germany and the UK. It is hard to find anyone these days who can make their greatest ever creations by just using a needle and yarn.
