MBNYFW Diary 9/10/10

6:15 am wake up NOT wanting to get out of bed, but excited to get ready for fashion week at new venue, Lincoln Center. Too excited to hit that snooze, so I hop on out of bed to get myself ready for the long day ahead of me.

6:55 Finished with getting dressed & makeup. Black maxi dress with white “paint” looking splotches and a pouf- shoulder blazer with suede booties.

7:15 Finish up eating some fruity cheerios and get my stuff together. Print out my “itinerary” forFashion’s Night Out and make sure all of my invitations/confirmation numbers are ready to go for the days check ins. OH yeah, can’t forget band-aids and Neosporin, just in case!

7:31 JUST make the train, with a minute to spare. Time to grab a seat and sleep!

8:25 Arrive at Penn station a few minutes late, take the 1 train to 66th street-Lincoln center.

9:26 Anxious, nervous, all of these mixed emotions of excitement and nerves for my firstMercedes Benz fashion week show! First up,Tadashi Shoji presentation.

9:27 Walking up the stairs of Lincoln center, I’m asked by a photographer to have my photo taken. I guess I dressed appropriately! Styeite or Styleend, I’m not quite sure where the photo will be up on the web.

9:29 Walking past the fountain to the entrance of Lincoln Center, an Italian photographer asks if he could photograph me. I’m flattered, and say yes, and ask where this will be. Amica magazine he says, and Italian magazine!

9:30 Amazed at how easy it was to check-in with the new computer bar code scanning system and print outs.

9:45 Tweeting and Facebooking the gorgeous dresses at Tadashi.

10:00 Meet up with Ty, check out the lobby full of awesome freebies and things to do.Tresseme is curling and doing hair, Essie is giving out free manicures, Maybelline was giving out free makeup. Put my name on the TresEmme list to get my hair done knowing I most likely wouldn’t have been there when my chance was up. Check out the Essie nail station and grab a free Starbucks mocha frappe.

10:30 Grab a bite at a café close by with Ty. Mmm chicken vegetable soup. Meet Mike Aaron for the first time! Br, it’s getting chilly! Sit by the fountain for a bit, while getting up; think I hear something drop, but look at the ground and see nothing.

12:00 Waiting in line for the Michael Angel show. Super excited! Look for my camera, and its no where to be found. I run real quick back to the fountain to find no red camera! I ask the nearest security guard and he lifts up my red camera and asks, “this one”.

Losing my Camera

LUCKY me!

Holy crap. So I run into Christina from StyleCaster and stand together for the show. Amazing collection; very futuristic.

12:30 Have a tiny break; decide to get lunch with Christina. Get stopped while trying to leave and grab lunch and get asked if it is ok to take a picture of my shoes. Weird but ok. Then I get the photographers card, she has a whole website of shoes 2 be seen. When she asks who the designer is, I smile and say…well it’s Forever 21. WE laugh and she says…yeah I’ve been getting a lot of that. While walking out, see Michelle from StyleCaster and chat with her real quick. Look at my clock to realize it is already 1:15 and I need to check-in for my next show. OOPS, skip lunch and apologize to Christina!

12:40 Not able to check in for Edition by George Chakras, so go to Buckler presentation real quick. Great patriotic style for the guys; check out my pics to come!!

1:00 Waiting in line for the Edition by George Chakras show. AMAZING dresses; red carpet much?

3:00 Ports 1961 show, super duper excited! See the judge from America’s Next top model and OLIVIA PALERMO. Get a BBM from Andrea from StyleCaster, she’s directly across from me! We meet up after the show, bbming eachother how 2 models almost fell during the show!

4:30 1 train downtown with Andrea. She gets off at 28th to get back to StyleCaster; I continue to Canal Street.

5:15 Finally arrive for the Alejandro Ingelmo presentation on Wooster St. Excellent shoe collection, wish I could get myself a few pairs of those fine heels/wedges.

5:30 Leave Alejandro and his sexy shoes and make my way down Canal Street to the Q train to meet up with college friend to attend Fashions Night Out. Naturally, I stopped on the way to admire the cute jewelery and cheap shoes; wasting about an hour trying things on that I ended up not buying.

6:15 Attend Assouline’s cocktail hour party, thanks to my invite from Anika Brown! The Plaza hotel was the perfect venue for the event!

7:00 Grab a bite from Pop Burger, delicious, but still hungry after leaving.

7:40 DKNY! Loved this store; free martinis and cocktails, popcorn, and admiration of clothes. I am utterly in love with every trouser and dress pant they have.

7:55 Walk downstairs to grab popcorn and my sandal gets stuck and breaks. Pretty annoyed and decide to go home.

8:00 Find out my parents are in the city, so I ask for a ride home rather than take the subway and the LIRR back home. In the meantime of waiting for them, I end up at Barney’s hoping to run into Mary Kate and Ashley, but with 100 feet of people in front ofme, I see nothing and decide to leave. I get my picture snapped on a red carpet where my picture will be put up online to be purchased and the proceeds go to a cancer charity!

9:45 Finally home, completely exhausted! Had a wonderful first day, and first experience at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Next up, TIBI show Tuesday & backstage pass to interview the designer. Any questions you’d like answered?!
