Custo Barcelona–Sneak Peak FW 2011/12

Custo Barcelona holds a special place in our heart, and thankfully we get a sneak peak at what’s happening for Fall/Winter 2011/12.  With the perfect time for renewal and change, things get whipped up a bit, with a new color palette and graphics, but nothing too wild to shake up the DNA of the brand.

With a ton of traditional tailoring, a true appreciation to handmade looks, a bit of irregularities, luxe and bling, and fabrics that seem to be urban and informal. All these trends rolled up into one collection weave a breath of sophistication.

Daytime and nighttime looks are easily distinguishable in this collection.  Bright, relaxed daywear. The ideal Custo Barcelona woman is totally urban and is looking for something with personality for work and weekends. She is intelligent and non-conformist, but without losing sight of her sexier and more daring spirit. A real Revolution Grrrls style. The Custo nighttime look for women is one of the strong points of the collection. Baggy, less structured lines in which overlayering is the key. The fit is comfortable and roomy with oversize pieces a constant. Tops are wide over narrow bottoms, with the odd flare or bag. Boho chic with unstructured flowing lines to emphasise the variety of feminine shapes.

The collection is divided into four themed groups:

SWEET UNIFORM

One of the sources of inspiration for this collection is a reinterpretation of the military look, put through a ‘sweet’ filter.

TEXTURE DOLL

From B-movie grunge to Camden boho and from rebel undergrads to goth Lolitas. These girls are rich kids that behave badly, unkempt, uncaring, sure of themselves and of being different.

3D

This group features the three-dimensional aspects of the graphics and the fabrics used. Few pieces transmit a message of such marked coherence and Custo personality. A language of its own, with elements designed to work autonomously, enhanced by combinations of stunning, unusual colours.

LONDON CALLING

Behind every collection is a great song, a powerful cultural fragment with a touch of the rebellious.
