NYFW: Jill Stuart Collection Fall 2011

Lady like elegance, structure, sophistication, and poise– I would expect nothing less from this renowned Pret-a-porter brand.  But this season, Jill Stuart has a noticeably darker palette;  shift dresses with artistic scenes of foxes and owls in the desert mixed with color blocking and fur pieces in more moody style.  A few of the same colors we have been seeing this week showed up in this collection– chalkboard green, brick red/orange, and saffron yellow.  The combination of a disco gold with the tonal colors in the color block dresses was unique for this sophisticated label.  I also LOVED her use of leather mixed with suede and combination of pleats with vertical line prints– it really brought the whole collection together.

Favorite piece: a firey red, wide skirt sleeveless dress with bow off center at the waist and paired with a fur scarf and tan wool fingerless gloves
Celebrities at the show: Mena Suvari, Nigel Barker, Rachel Zoe’s old left hand man Brad Goreski, and Alexa Ray Joel (offspring to Kristi Brinkley and Billy Joel).Photos provided by Mercedes Benz Fashion Week
