Menswear Shows Are Right Around the Corner

While many of us relax and look forward to the holidays the men’s fashion industry can only think of what comes right after it, show season, which happens to begin with menswear.  Beginning on January 15 2011, Milan kicks of the Fall/Winter 2011 show season.  Shows of note from the Milan calendar include:

  • Saturday-Costume National Homme, Jil Sander, Burberry Prorsum
  • Sunday -Bottega Venetta, Emporio Armani, Missoni, Prada, Moncler Gamme Bleu
  • Monday-Gucci, Etro, D&G, Versace, Alexander McQueen
  • Tuesday- DSquared2, Neil Berret,  Giorgio Armani, Nicole Farhi, Z Zegna

After Milan(and getting to see Massimo Nicosia’s first go at Nicole Farhi and Sarah Burton’s second at Alexander McQueen Menswear) we move to Paris to encounter names like the following:

  • Wednesday- Thierry Mugler, Rad Hourani
  • Thursday- Rick Owens, Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten
  • Friday -Junya Watanabe, Givenchy, John Galliano
  • Saturday- Maison Martin Margiela, Kenzo, Dior Homme, Petar Petrov, Hermes, Raf Simons
  • Sunday- Lanvin, Songzio, Thom Browne

With these shows to look forward to, mostly from designers that we are familiar with(besides Nicola Formichetti at Thierry Mugler), we look forward to the two weeks devoted solely to menswear in the fashion capitals.  Other shows will follow as London has their Men’s day the last day of fashion week, and New York does their consecutively as the womenswear shows.

Are you looking towards any shows in particular?
