HVS Goes De Luxe & Curvaceous for Fall 2011!

As soon as I stepped backstage, I became engulfed in an array of incandescent shimmer. Rich, bold African prints  brought back enchanting  memories of warm days and semi cool nights in Naija. Sequins bathed in electric blue, kismet in extraordinary passion purple, turquoise, and honey, invaded even the bright lights above, and that’s when I knew I knew. . . I was in heaven.

Models sauntered the room, in 1950′s  “pin-up” style, donning high-raised buns and long exotic pony tails, with “Purple Goddess” lips, (an exclusive HVS shade courtesy of FSL Cosmetics.) The models were adorned in elegant, spirited dresses, skirts,  and tops made from the crevices of Bukola Are’s imagination. Only Bukola Are, the head designer, of House of Versatile Styles, could turn a saucy pin up girl into a domesticated housewife with pizazz!

HVS’s collection made a daring debut during New York Fashion Week Fall 2011, as it seemed to evoke passion and life even in the bleakest season, as the entire collection screamed color and lots of it! HVS even created an entire collection in ode to the curvy fashionista, HVS Curve, along with HVS De Luxe,  and HVS Accessories.  Drool!!

Full of  sophistication and sexy magnanimity, the collection stayed true its signature mantra.  The highlight of the backstage experience, besides me drooling over the sparkly dresses and acid hot purple shimmer top and matching skirt set, was watching Bukola tear up when I whispered, ‘This is fabulous! This is it! This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Are you ready for your spotlight?’

The surprises were never ending that night. Another charming surprise was running into LA based luxury handbag designer, Olasunbo Lawal, of Olas Handbags, who teamed up with HVS to debut her vibrant, buttery soft handbags. (Olas Handbags, like HVS, should definitely be on your radar; and remember you heard it here first!)  Très fab!!!
