Animal Print, How Much Is Too Much?

In many situations, the age old phrase “two is better than one” is generally a good thing. For instance, having  two dollars is better than one and so on. However, when it comes to wearing trends, rocking just one is usually more than enough.

For those of you who haven’t noticed, animal print is very popular this season. Yes, the jungle has made its way to the runway. With leopard print as the forerunner, this is a revolving trend with fashion roots that date back decades. Coats, dresses, shoes and handbags worn correctly, can add instant sex appeal and complement any ensemble.

However, it is extremely important than none of these be worn together. Wearing just one piece of animal print is enough to satisfy the call of the wild. In this case, it is important to remember that two is most certainly not better than one. In actuality, less is more when wearing animal print.

In case you forget, here are 5 fashion tips from our friends at Suit101.com on how to wear animal print:

  1. Fashion’s golden rule has always been to keep animal print to one single piece and keep the rest of your outfit simple. The safest way to wear animal print is sparingly!
  2. Pair leopard print with beige or black to keep it chic and refined.
  3. Dip a toe into the trend by adding a leopard print accessory to a plain outfit. This could be a scarf, a hat, some tights, gloves, a structured bag or a pair of cute kitten heels.
  4. For a real celebrity look break the rules by mixing and matching prints. However, this look is not for the faint-hearted. Keep accessories to a minimum to keep it chic.
  5. Go for good quality fabrics. Cheap material can look less than chic when it’s an animal print.
