For his Fall 2011 showing, Andrew Buckler shut down Grand Street in SoHo and held his runway show on the road. With editors, bloggers, buyers, and other fashion writers huddled on the sidewalks, Buckler sent down a barrage of models in his Fall 2011 wares featuring mostly dark pieces with creative detailing.
In totality, the collection was very masculine. With overalls, a working man’s destroyed trousers, and heavy boots with leather wrapped round them, the collection carries within it a certain innate strength. It was in the detailing though that one found color, relaxation, and a bit of femininity. While some suits were underscored with the subtle femininity of a draped top in soft brown, others were made simple by printed, light, crew necks. Even some of the outerwear received interesting quirks as the closing look, which effortlessly summed up the entire collection, featured curls of fur for the lining.
While the prints on the shirts and some on the insides of blazers provided unexpected pops it was the yellow towards the end of the collection that sealed the deal. One pair of trousers, one coat, and multiple accessories were done in the hue adding just the right amount of punch to an already nice collection.
Models who walked in this show included Daisuke Ueda, Tom Lander, Noma Han, and Wesley Phillips.
