Steven Alan Menswear Fall 2011

There seems to be something uniquely American about some of the menswear collections coming out of New York for Fall 2011.  Showing only 12 looks in presentation style for menswear, Steven Alan seemed to fall into this category.  With one classic, military inspired vanilla single breasted coat, along with a bright red puffa jacket, and a shawl-cowl collar cardigan, the collection covers all the customary outerwear bases.  There was a bit of dandy by way of the bow tie, slim short lapels, and socks over trouser legs but wasn’t overtly so.

There did seem to be something innately natty about the collection though. Maybe it was the bowtie in combination with the belt buckle all anchored by a heavy boot rimmed with a wool argyle sock.  The looks didn’t need much interpretation as I’m sure I’ve seen a few very similar ones in the mountains of the South Eastern United States, but the collection as a whole was an improvement from last season.
