DKNY Menswear Fall 2011

For Fall 2011 DKNY delved into deeper menswear.  Their first ever presentation, the collection had very militaristic overtones and kicked of the menswear shows of New York fashion week with a very “New York” collection.

New York style, as a whole, is noted for it’s blacks and grays and it happened to be these colors which were utilized for the DKNY Menswear Fall 2011 showing.  Garment-wise, the collection seemed to resolve around the suit.  While I couldn’t shake the feeling of soberness that swept over me as I flicked through the collection, I also could not deny the utilitarian aspect found in every garment of the collection.  Void of added fluff or addition the collection was seemed to begin with a suit and present various versions of that same suit; with a beanie, under a parka, or in navy blue.
